2008 RACE INSTRUCTIONS - DOWNLOAD
The North Lincs Adventure Challenge - 25th May 2008
The race starts at 8.45am and will be on a time trial format. Individual start times will be on display on the day at registration.
Venue
Ancholme Leisure Centre is located in the town of Brigg, 13 km east of Scunthorpe on the A18 and is easily accessible from Junction 4 of the M180.
Car Parking
There is limited car parking at the Leisure Centre, once this is full competitors will be directed by race officials to an overflow car park opposite the Leisure Centre.
Registration
Race registration will be open from 7.00 am to 8.30 am and will be located at the Leisure Centre. You will be issued with two race numbers. 1 must be displayed on your front at all times and the other on your cycle helmet, and 3 numbered stickers to be placed on cycle helmet, kayak and paddle.
Transition Area (opens at 7.00 am)
The Transition Area for the cycle is located in the All Weather
Pitch next to the Leisure Centre entrance. Kayak’s are to be
racked on the river bank behind the Leisure Centre at your allocated
peg, in number order.
Please ensure that numbered stickers (provided) are clearly displayed
on cycles, kayaks and paddles, and you have an approved (ansi/snell)
cycle helmet and buoyancy aid, before entering the transition area.
The cycle racking is numbered and we ask competitors to number accordingly.
Buoyancy aids and paddles must be left in the cycle transition area.
Cycles, kayaks and paddles can only be removed after the race by showing
your race number.
Please note: Competitors only in the transition
area.
Changing Facilities
Changing areas, showers and secure lockers are available within
the Leisure Centre.
Race Briefing
There will be a short pre-race briefing at 8.15
am near to the transition area. All competitors must attend.

The
Cycle - 36K (23 miles)
The race starts with a 36 kilometre / 23 mile cycle, which is based
on the majority public road. Your bike should be roadworthy and suitable
for the event. You are also required to wear an ANSI / SNELL approved
cycle helmet.
THE DRAFT ZONE IS 10M (4 bike lengths)
A tour of the bike course will take place at 2 pm on the Saturday prior to the event for competitors unfamiliar with the locality.

The Kayak - 10K
(6 miles)

Then its on to the Kayak stage and you should be a competent canoeist and proficient in deep water capsize drill. The Kayak stage is 2 laps around Brigg on the River Ancholme.
Should competitors capsize or get into difficulty you are obliged to ensure they are OK before proceeding. A raised paddle will summon the rescue boat.
The
Run - 10K (6 miles)

Then its on to the run which is your final stage, this follows the path along the river and can be muddy in places.
Prizes and presentation
Presentation will be held in the Leisure Centre bar area at 1.30 pm.
Results
Results will be available on the day and also will be posted on the website.
